BEDMAKING 101

No one ever said that making a bed was easy. And I am not talking about the daily straightening and rearranging of the sheets and fluffing of the pillows or the frequent task of changing the sheets and pillow slips. Really "making" a bed into a comfortable, gorgeous place to lie down actually takes quite a bit of designing, careful craftsmanship, some excellent fabrics, beautiful.

First, start with the bed. If it's a platform or a simple legged frame with no headboard or foot board, all one needs is a bed skirt, linens, possibly a coverlet, and lots of pillows. If it's a water bed (and yes, I have had some experience with those, though I never owned one), much of this won't apply because canopies, special mattress and box spring covers, and bed skirts aren't necessary for the typical water bed -- or army cot or hammock for that matter.

Way to go Martha we all know what is expected of us now. I know I will sleep better tonight. Looks hard as a rock if you ask me.

I wanted to show bed making 101 skill today. I decided my Blog is just to boring. My cleaning ladies are not sure how to make my bed so this was what the finished product looks like after there attempt. How awesome is this. I am sure Martha Stewart would be proud. I came in and was laughing so hard. For all you that want a lesson let me know and I can demonstrate just how to get this look. Love my cleaning ladies though.

HALLOWEEN 2008

Halloween hit hard here this year. I had bought 8 HUGE bags of candy from Costco thinking this would surly be enough since I had only 5 last year and ran out. Guess again. My trick or treat kids started at 6:00 and I was out of candy and anything else that I could rummage up by 8:30 so I had to turn my lights out and call it good.
Our neighborhood is gated so we have families that run there high end golf carts up and down the streets to make sure it is safe and they hand out hot chocolate to parents. Of course you would take your kids to our neighborhood they also get king sized candy bars. What a life!!!!
Colin and Jaxon had enough walking since our neighborhood is very hilly so they all came back. They decided to start handing out the candy to the kids. They LOVE doing this every year. Even as heavy as the HUGE calderon was Jaxon insisted on holding it so the kids could take candy. Ava would watch from behind and tell them "no,no." She did not like them taking candy out of the calderon because she knew that was candy in there. She figured this out right away. I miss taking out the kids at Halloween. It was a great time to spend with our boys. This was the first year Terry was NOT on call and could be home to see kids come and watch our little grand kids participate. I love to see family together. This is what I live for. We love you all so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked Colin and Jaxon who they wanted to be for Halloween and they said Super Mario brothers. Colin is Mario and Jaxon is Luigi. I went on line and found the costumes. When they came they had mustaches that only stuck on one time so Clay drew these on the boys and they look just like the real deal. I have to tell you out of all the costumes that came to our house my grand kids out did themselves.

Our cute Ava and her brothers Jaxon and Colin came up to trick or treat last night. Ava was a fairy. Rachael made her beautiful skirt and Ava loved wearing it. Of course the candy was her best treat. Clay said that when they asked if she was ready to go back to grandmas she said "NO" she loved going door to door getting candy. It was pretty warm but started to rain but this did not stop the kids. Boy I wish I was this age again to have NO WORRIES and just have fun. You are so cute AVA and we love you to pieces.

FALL HAS ARRIVED

Fall has arrived and it is so beautiful in our back yard. We look up the mountain and can see the beautiful color changing over night. We are expected to get a wind or I know by tomorrow most of this will be gone and only UGLY tree branches will remind us that WINTER is just around the corner.

A JOB WELL DONE

This is the finished picture taken at dusk. The only thing we have to get done are the caps on the columns on our porch. It has taken almost 2 months to reach this point. I will be looking forward to drinking my coffee and watching others plow there homes as I stay inside and marvel the new look. We are so lucky to have my mother help with this project because I could not of done this myself. Putting colors together was more than I was able to do and she did this with ease. Thanks mom for your help Terry and I are grateful for this. We LOVE our new look to the house.

This picture is in the day showing the detail on the upper part of the driveway. It was cloudy this day so the color is showing a little different than the other photo that was taken at night. The detail is so amazing to me and to watch them do this was more than I could of imagined.

Here you can see the detail that Ron did to the driveway. I was so very impressed with his work. Ron, Kevin and Pedro would be on there hands and knees daily detailing each individual stone making groves and indentations so that my driveway would look like a stamp but actual stone.

We changed out our stairs which were orginally rounded to square. It went better with the house and Ron wanted to add another step to make it easier to walk up and down. You can get a better idea of the railing and the steps that were done.

FINISHED AT LAST

This is the finished look of our boilers that will make the radiant heat work on our driveway. It is very complex but they say will run on its own. I hope this is true or I will be in deep you know what trying to figure this one out when Terry is at work. The company that did this was so great to work with and were there everyday working on this. Even though there were a few days I lost it with them to get them back on track we finally reached an understanding that I was not going to put up with anything less than perfect. They said they wished I would consider working for them as a Foreman so that I could keep everyone on task. Of course I decided that I did not need this much stress in my life as working with this many subs has been a real test to me.

PROGESS AND ABOUT DONE

As you can see Terry is having to "help" the railing people install our railing. You see when they took them down to take to there location to paint they also added that they would reinstall them. The cost was as much to paint as it was to take down but I wanted them to take them down so they would not ruin our new radiant heat new poured stamped porch.

When they finally came to install them Terry asked them to install them better than they were originally done because of security and stability. They called there boss and he told them not to install them if that was what we wanted. Terry said fine I will do it than because your way will make the railing come lose again and someone will fall off. So it was decided that they would install ONLY the bottom and Terry would install the tops. After watching Terry install the tops they than told him "that is an easier way to install them and I can see why you wanted them this way." Terry was able to keep up with them and could of passed them by if they would of worked any slower. As you can see the one guy that also came along to help only watched the WHOLE time. Not sure why he was there only to get hours I guess. Anyway, the railing is finally up before the trick or treat kids come and will not fall off the porch.
